An encouraging start for the year 7 boy’s football team who have performed well over the season and played well in all 3 major cup competitions. The most notable result being the 7-1 victory over local rivals, Chorlton High School, ensuring a progression to the latter stages of the Manchester Cup. The boys have continually demonstrated a passion for the game with regular high numbers attending weekly training sessions to further develop and challenge one another for the starting places.
There is no doubt that the team will continue to develop and improve game by game, with the goal scoring talent of Hezekiah and intelligent attacking play of Joseph. The heart of the team is sensibly and safely controlled by both Arthur in central midfield and Matthew in central defence.
There have been some great individual performances and the Year 8 team are still in the Catholic cup and league, with everything to play for, despite losing the English schools cup.
The Year 9 team have the Catholic league and cup coming up and with training well underway they are optimistic for success.
A promising start to the season has now ended, and after very encouraging performances in all cup competitions, it is clear that this team have the potential to go on and be more competitive next season. Some stand out performances from Kelvin and Whidul.
Only one game played so far this year, but a great team performance to beat Burnage High School 3-0 to progress to the next round of the Manchester Cup. With three fixtures coming up quickly over the Christmas period, we are hopeful of a strong league performance and two cup runs from this extremely talented team, with a solid spine of Finn at the heart of defence and Sam and Wen putting in the hard work in the engine room of the team.
