120 children took part in our joyful Christmas Concerts on 21st December which really put us in the Christmas spirit! We continued with our new successful format of two concerts, both of which were packed out with performers and delighted audience!
The Key Stage 3 Drama group performed an abridged version of Dickens’s A Christmas Carol called Mr Scrooge and it was wonderful to see our Year 7 and 8 students acting with such confidence, professionalism and enthusiasm. Our musicians excelled themselves again, with spectacular singing and playing from all involved. Many commented on the range and diversity of musical ensembles, ranging from Folk Band and Steel Pans to Orchestra, Jazz Band and coached rock bands for each year group, including 2 debut performances by our new Year 7 girl and boy bands! Both our choirs sang beautifully, one highlight being Olivia Clarke’s solo in Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah, and each concert ended with a joyful finale with all musicians and singers together, and some good old audience participation with renditions of Winter Wonderland and Merry Christmas Everybody! One parent tweeted “Great concert as always. Lovely to see so many new performers coming through in the younger groups too”. A wonderful evening was had by all and we are delighted that over £250 was collected for our Music Fund and chosen charities of the Motor Neurone Disease Association and St Ann’s Hospice.
Congratulations to all the students for their talented performances, and many thanks to all the staff and former students who helped for their commitment and inspiring coaching.
