Concert by Halle Orchestra

The Music GCSE students attended a fantastic concert by the Halle Orchestra and soloists from the RNCM at the Bridgewater Hall on Monday 5th Feb called The Orchestra through the Ages. The concert was specially designed to assist students in their understanding of the orchestra and musical periods such as Baroque, Classical and Romantic as well as genres such as the concerto and symphony, featured in their GCSE set works. It was great to see and hear some more unusual instruments like piccolo, celesta, double bassoon and harpsichord and also to hear some famous tunes such as Mozart’s aria from The Marriage of Figaro and John Williams’s Star Wars. Thank you very much to the Halle and RNCM for hosting such an excellent opportunity for our students.

We are part of the ‘Bee in the city’ art trail. The St.Johns ‘Bee-attitude’ bee is number 93 of the little bees and is in the Lowry theatre in Salford Quays. #beeinthecitymcr https://t.co/IRRm6Eh4T0
