In October, Loreto held its first official ‘Diversity Day’ celebration where students and staff took part in a series of events and welcomed special visitors from within the extended community. Representatives included members of the Jewish and Muslim communities, The Proud Trust (LGBT), a specialist from Healthy Schools with a session on gender, a representative from Manchester University on Black History and Quinton Fortune – former Manchester United Player and South African Internationalist.
Students held a cake sale, sold wrist bands to promote unity and attended an informal luncheon where they learnt more about other communities. In the dining hall students enjoyed food from around the world and in the drama studio students and staff were wowed by a visiting gospel choir led by Ms Joseph.
Thank you to the Diversity Action Team led by Mrs Knowles for a wonderful and informative day.
