Between the 20th and the 27th of September, 15 of our GCSE French candidates were invited to go to France as part of the French Exchange. The pupils were welcomed into French families in the northern town of Charleville-Mézières where they were totally immersed in the language and culture. During the week we took part in a multitude of activities including going to see wolves in a nature reserve, visiting Reims cathedral, taking a tour of the town, and even getting shown around the wine cellars of Pommery Champagne. (Unfortunately we were asked not to take the bottles). This is the first year that we have been lucky enough to be in time for the International Marionnette Festival that takes place once every two years. The pupils were treated to two shows, as well as a number of ad hoc puppet shows that were taking place in streets all over town.
Our French partners will return the visit in May, follow @loretoexchange on Twitter for updates.
