Inspiring International Women’s Day

The students of Loreto High School celebrated there second International Women’s day on 8th March. The event was led by members from the School Council. A group of inspirational women visited students in years 7,8,9 and 10 for bespoke lessons to discuss the role and image of women in 2018.

Classes and visitors also studied a piece of text from ‘The Misfits’ to examine the pressures on young women today.  Following the lessons, the visitors and a selection of the Student Council, along with year 10 and 11 students were invited to an informal lunch, where students had the opportunity to ask the visitors about their career paths and how to achieve in particular fields. At lunch time students purchased the delicious cakes that were kindly donated by staff and students, in support of the Loreto Rumbek appeal. We would like to thank our visitors who promoted sport, health and well being and these included Hough End Leisure Centre, Manchester Young Lives, the Manchester United Foundation, The Proud Trust as well as inspiring women’s literature and music!
