Congratulations to the students and staff at Loreto HS who were runners up in the World Book Day 2017 competition, being the only high school in Manchester to secure this position. Last year Loreto came third in the competition nationally and were awarded £3000 to spend on resources.
For their 2017 entry the students submitted an Art display based on ‘How I live now’ and ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.’ The books were chosen by the students as they depict the energy and diversity of the school. ‘We are all one big family at Loreto, and we are not your average family. It doesn’t matter whether you’re black or white, an EAL pupil or a Mancunian born and bred, we all come together in our own little “wonderland”, and this is how we live now!” explained one year 10 student which sums up Loreto rather well. The school will receive a copy of ‘A Child of Books’ signed by Oliver Jeffers and Sam Winston, and a framed limited edition print from the book to celebrate their success.
