National Poetry Day

Loreto celebrated NPD on Thursday 28th September.  The theme for the day was Freedom. With Freedom being one of our school values, pupils were excited to throw themselves into the poetry activities in their English lessons and in the Library.   Some amazing pieces of poetry have been created and some poets were brave enough to perform their creations to their class. Pupils created poetry postcards and decorated freedom birds for a display. Well done to all students for embracing the day and using their creative energy to produce some first-class poetry.

Head of English Mr Coulbeck said, “To see so many pupils engaged in poetry, exploring their opinions on the world around them and creatively capturing their thoughts was wonderful. Many thanks to everyone involved, especially our librarian Miss Shepherd who co-ordinated the activities and to the English team who dressed up as their favourite poet for the day.”

We are part of the ‘Bee in the city’ art trail. The St.Johns ‘Bee-attitude’ bee is number 93 of the little bees and is in the Lowry theatre in Salford Quays. #beeinthecitymcr https://t.co/IRRm6Eh4T0
