Suffrage Event at MMU

Members of the Loreto Student Council visited Manchester Metropolitan University on Wednesday 18th April, as part of their celebrations for 100 years of women’s suffrage. Helen Pankhurst, grand-daughter of Sylvia Pankhurst, hosted a talk about women’s achievements in the last 100 years.

Carolina, Olivia and Jenese, three members of the student council, confidently made contributions and asked mature questions. The students enjoyed their experience and despite their young age, they were made to feel welcome in a room full of academics and local feminist campaigners.  The event gave them some great ideas for future events at school!

We are part of the ‘Bee in the city’ art trail. The St.Johns ‘Bee-attitude’ bee is number 93 of the little bees and is in the Lowry theatre in Salford Quays. #beeinthecitymcr https://t.co/IRRm6Eh4T0
